“Maybe miracles don’t just happen in childhood or at Christmas. On 26 December at 1 pm, we invite you to a participatory event with Mindaugas Gapševičius, during which the artist will present his work “Boris and Mindaugas Interfaces”, and you will be able to try it out.
“Boris and Mindaugas’ Interface is part of the exhibition “Humans, non-humans, with and without humans” – and is an interface of communication between Boris, a boxer dog, and his owner.
“Interfaces for Boris and Mindaugas” provides interfaces for the boxer dog Boris and his host, so that the host experiences how the dog behaves, and the dog experiences the behaviour of his host.
The installation consists of human-sized and dog-sized objects, six interfaces, as well as four 3D tutorials. The interfaces were designed to be attached to the boxer dog Boris and his host Mindaugas, whereas 3D tutorials explain how to attach the interfaces.
The communication between the dog and his host is established through the electrical signal. Heart rate and brain activity are measured, interpreted, and converted into electrical signals so they are exchanged between the two via the Internet.
Mindaugas Gapševičius lives in Berlin and Vilnius. His work explores the impact of non-human actors on human creativity and the impact of humans on the umwelt. He has completed MA studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and received a Master of Philosophy degree from the Goldsmiths University of London. He is a creative fellow at the Bauhaus University in Weimar since 2015. Gapševičius was one of the initiators and founders of “Institutio Media”, the first Lithuanian media art platform (1998). Along with colleagues from the “TOP” association, he initiated the first “TOP” community biolaboratory in Berlin (2016). In 2019 he established “Alt lab”, a laboratory for non-disciplinary research in Vilnius. Gapševičius’s works have been shown at “Ars Electronica” festival in Linz (2019, 2020, 2021), “Lithuanian National Gallery of Art” (2019, 2021), “MO” Museum in Vilnius (2019), and “Piksel” festival in Bergen (2018, 2021).
The event will be held in Lithuanian, with English translation on request.

Gruodžio 26 d., 13 val., kviečiame į dalyvaujamąjį renginį su Mindaugu Gapševičiumi, kurio metu menininkas pristatys savo kūrinį “Boriso ir Mindaugo sąsajos”, o jūs galėsite jį išmėginti.
“Boriso ir Mindaugo sąsajos” – tai vienas iš “Humans, non-humans, with and without humans” parodos eksponatų – bokserio veislės šuns Boriso ir jo šeimininko sąsajos, skirtos šuns–šeimininko komunikacijai.
Instaliaciją sudaro žmogaus ir šuns dydžio objektai, šešios sąsajos, taip pat keturios 3D mokomosios programos. Sąsajos buvo sukurtos taip, kad jas būtų galima pritvirtinti prie bokserio šuns Boriso ir jo šeimininko Mindaugo, o 3D mokomosiose programose paaiškinta, kaip pritvirtinti sąsajas.
Šuns ir jo šeimininko ryšys užmezgamas per elektrinį signalą. Širdies ritmas ir smegenų veikla matuojami, interpretuojami ir paverčiami elektriniais signalais, internetu pasiekiančiais dėvinčiuosius.
Mindaugas Gapševičius savo darbuose tyrinėja nežmogiškųjų veikėjų įtaką žmogaus kūrybiškumui ir žmonių poveikį aplinkai. Jis baigė magistro studijas Vilniaus dailės akademijoje ir įgijo filosofijos magistro laipsnį Londono Goldsmito universitete. Nuo 2015 m. yra Bauhauzo universiteto Veimare dėstytojas. A. Gapševičius buvo vienas iš pirmosios lietuviškos medijų meno platformos „Institutio Media“ iniciatorių ir įkūrėjų (1998 m.). Kartu su kolegomis iš asociacijos „TOP“ jis inicijavo pirmąją „TOP“ bendruomenės biolaboratoriją Berlyne (2016 m.). 2019 m. Vilniuje įkūrė nedisciplininių tyrimų laboratoriją “Alt lab”. A. Gapševičiaus darbai buvo rodomi festivalyje “Ars Electronica” Lince (2019, 2020, 2021 m.), Lietuvos nacionalinėje dailės galerijoje (2019, 2021 m.), „MO“ muziejuje Vilniuje (2019 m.), festivalyje “Piksel” Bergene (2018, 2021 m.).
Renginys vyks lietuvių kalba, esant poreikiui – su vertimu į anglų kalbą.
