The World is experiencing a moment of stand-still during the events of Covid-19 pandemic. Surely it is affecting each one of us in many different ways. To some this means fear and uncertainty about the future, economic difficulties, to others – inspiration and time to create. This period brings ideas into surface, raises questions and debates about our healthcare and economic systems, ecological, political and social issues.

This is a series of posts featuring creative expressions made during Covid-19 pandemic, or previous works that are particularly relevant during these times of change.

Today we are sharing a series of photographs “The New Normal” by a Lithuanian photographer Denis Vėjas. In this ongoing series he captures Vilnius city life during the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

The New Normal is my ongoing project documenting Vilnius during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are living in a historical moment that will have an impact on the future in one or another way. Something invisible is leaving tremendous traces on the world as we know it;  In a matter of weeks everything changed; social distancing, military presence in public spaces, face masks as a normal part of public appearance… The whole new cityscape under the pandemic was building dystopian-futuristic scenarios in my imagination that I wanted to capture. I found it intriguing to re-imagine the city I grew up in, at this new alert atmosphere through the time-framed period of history.”
