COVID-19 CREATIVE OUTLET: Paintings by Marie Wuithier

Marie Wuithier - Autoportrait painting

The World is experiencing a moment of stand-still during the events of Covid-19 pandemic. Surely it is affecting each one of us in many different ways. To some this means fear and uncertainty about the future, economic difficulties, to others – inspiration and time to create. This period brings ideas into surface, raises questions and debates about our healthcare and economic systems, ecological, political and social issues.

This is a series of posts featuring creative expressions made during the pandemics period, or previous works that are particularly relevant during these times of change.

Today we are sharing artworks by a visual artist Marie Wuithier, whose creations focus on emotions, freedom, and beauty (as perceived subjectively), as well as open-mindedness to the differences, to other cultures, to changes.

“Thanks to the confinement I develop a project concerning oneself portrait. The aim is to show imperfection and to make it beautiful. I choose to paint it, without artifice, like a more natural idea of me. I speak about hair from armpit, not straight shoulders, not similars eyes, boobs, nudity, etc… My global aim is to help people to take advantage from this confinement to accept theirself with their imperfections. This project is in process. I use paper 15 x 20 cm with acrylic & watercolor & collage.”

Artist statement:

I like to reproduce the world added by my vision colored by
emotions.

In real, these emotions are not visible. We feel them… And it’s what
helping us to see with optimism the world in a color way.

Liberty is a huge feeling which I like to add in my painting because
this feeling help us to be creative, to resolve problems, to be optimist,
to help people, to do what we think is good.

I like to paint liberty by choosing myself to didn’t follow art
technical, just by trying things. I accept to make error, and I can
choose if I want to fix the error or if I want to let it be on my
painting…. Life is built by attempt and some time by error too, and
for me this aspect is very interesting.

If I had to describe my art I will summarize it by two things:
unexpected & unregulated.

I want that my painting give a liberty feeling to my spectator: to help
them to open their imagination and to break their norms.
Also, in my life concept beauty is everywhere, in each life details we
have the power to see.
