TARKA NIGHT 2

February 18, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Tarka Night - film with live soundtrack

Tarka Nights are events focused on experimental live music performances and guided sound listening, digging from archives of nature and human field recordings, and movie projections with live soundtrack.

Unarcheology will present a soundscape made of sounds of crickets, cicadas and dragonflies from all over the world, coexisting with ultrasounds from bats, here transposed to audible frequencies. From the montage emerges an illogical ecosystem of sounds normally found very distant from each other and from us, both on a geographic map and on the sound spectrum.

The program will continue with three short movies about Moths and Butterflies, where we can observe the migrating routes of Monarch Butterflies, and the Metamorphosis process of Silk Moths and Cercopia Moths – with live soundtracks by Demetrio Castellucci and Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi.

The night will continue with a live set by Memeshift, Morgan Sully’s moniker for making danceable music traversing chord, texture and tonality and cultures.

PROGRAM:

— Ultrasounds of Bats + Sounds of Crickets and Cicadas – guided listening (40 min)

— Projection with Live Soundtracks by Demetrio Castellucci and Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi

• “the Monarch Butterfly Story” (11min)

• “Silk Moth” (11min)

• “Cercopia Moth” (6min)

— MEMESHIFT (live set)

— Closing DJSET by Dj Deme and Dj Soto

Demetrio Castellucci was born in Italy.

Since 2004 he is involved in sound design and composing for various dance performances, theater and cinema.

Since 2007 he is active as Black Fanfare, a solo electroacoustic music project that moves on two parallel currents, one touching a melodic inclination and another one a purely organic electro-acoustic sound, while the rhythm evokes an imaginary battle of percussive elements.

In 2020 with Unarcheology he launched AirCheology Airlines, ambient music concerts in a cardboard DIY flight simulator for passengers, where pilots are also the musicians.
