THE TEXTURE OF PAINT, THE PATH OF SOUND

In an almost completely regulation-free process of transforming visual texture of graphic scores into a fabric of sound, the duo undertakes a task of changing the paradigm of what a score of every piece of music might be transformed into. They reinvent and reinterpret the horizontal and vertical details of notation to produce a completely new soundscape. This concept offers an unlimited space for elaboration for the two performers, while the audience will have a chance to experience the process from the inside by following the projected sheet music. The performance will consist solely of works notated using graphics as a method of communication between the composer and the performers.

Launched in 1992, Jauna Muzika is one of Lithuania’s oldest arts festivals the concept of which has changed considerably over time. Nowadays the event is aimed at artists working with sound and music as a form of experimental creativity.

This year’s focus is kinship, living together and similar concepts which on this occasion fall under one word – BEside. Living in a society makes a complete separation from it impossible. Every community is an integral ecosystem in which all people exist. Quite often, therefore, it is essential to take a closer look at what’s around you in order to learn more about your inner self. People are influenced, shaped and altered by things, ideas and humans they encounter or interact with. BEside being the festival’s central theme, each programme entry this year features music or musicians from neighbouring countries. As before, we strive to combine diverse forms of artistic creativity with music to offer a broad perspective of genres, styles and techniques.

DAŽŲ TEKSTŪRA, GARSO KELIAS

Šio eksperimento duetas imasi beveik neribodamas savęs. Tikslas – vizualinę partitūros tekstūrą paversti garsine medžiaga, taip tarsi demonstruojant, kad bet kurio muzikos kūrinio natos gali būti transformuojamos į visiškai kitokį garsinį pavidalą. Atlikėjai laisvai interpretuos natose pastebėtas horizontalias ar vertikalias slinktis ir kurs visiškai naujus garsovaizdžius. Ši koncepcija muzikantams atveria neribotas interpretacijos erdves, o klausytojai irgi bus įtraukti į procesą, nes matys originalių natų projekcijas. Koncerte skambės tik grafine notacija užrašytų kūrinių interpretacijos.

„Jauna muzika“ – vienas seniausių festivalių Lietuvoje, jis pirmąsyk organizuotas 1992 metais. Per tris dešimtmečius kito ir šio renginio koncepcija, ir pavadinimas, dabar šis festivalis orientuotas į garso menininkus ir eksperimentinės muzikos kūrėjus.

Šiais metais festivalio tema – bendrystė, veikimas kartu, artumas ir pan., vienijami žodžių BŪTI šalia. Žmogui, kaip socialinio audinio dalelei, neįmanoma visiškai atsiriboti nuo visuomenės. Kiekviena bendruomenė – integrali žmones vienijanti visuma, tad dažną sykį svarbu įdėmiau pažvelgti į mus supančią aplinką, nes tai padeda geriau suvokti savo pačių vidinį dvasinį vyksmą. Mus veikia ir keičia sutikti žmonės, išgirstos idėjos ir tai, ką naudojame ar vartojame. Kadangi šiais metais festivalio tema BŪTI šalia, kiekvienas programos dėmuo vienaip ar kitaip – per kūrinius arba jų atlikėjus – jungia bent dvi kaimynines šalis. Kaip visuomet, stengtasi įtraukti ne tik muziką, bet ir kitas meninės kūrybos sferas, pateikti plačią žanrų, stilių ir techninių sprendimų paletę.
