It is fascinating how the smallest details, patterns and textures intertwine and repeat in the world around us. Each structure resembles another one. We, ourselves, are a smaller repetition of a bigger picture, just like structures of trees or rivers. Who we are and what we create becomes an integral part of nature, a complex net of patterns.
I love to see artists exploring these endless intertwined connections in nature. A great example of artworks examining this subject are created by Chile based artist Juana Gómez. Her intricately embroidered photographs highlight the resemblance of patterns found in nature that surrounds us and human bodies. Whether that would be our neural networks or structures of blood vessels, in the end they all find equivalence in nature – leaves, tree barks, river networks, etc. All you need to do is look closer and you’ll find all the amazing textures and patterns that we are all part of.
