Stitching Conversations: Sexual Violence as a War Crime
April 29, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FreeMeet the artist Iryna Rogovets in a creative process.
We have invited the artist from the current exhibition “Sexual Violence as a War Crime” to talk about art making and its impact on society, while collectively embroidering an art piece. Public is also invited to join, either as participants in the creative process and conversations, or as observers and listeners.
This creative session, initiated by Liucija Dervinytė, is part of her artistic research project “Rhizomes of Connections”. Project started in 2021 and has been joined by over 50 participants on various occasions embroidering the same piece of fabric. Conversations taking place during the creative process explore the ideas of nature, culture and sustainability. The project looks into the role of art in contributing to cultural change, creating connections and transforming the dualistic nature-culture worldview.
Embroidery talk session will be held in English. The creative process will be recorded and filmed.
