Fiction short films program of the IX Nefiltravanae Kino

This year, the relevance of narratives, including short films, is determined by the relationship between people. The risks of dehumanization are higher than ever. In this regard, the 2023 festival program includes works with acute questions and conflicts that are accompanied by confrontation, exploitation, and alienation. At the same time, almost every film in the program represents a separate dimension of the wonder. Something supreme and beyond rational explanation surrounds the characters and becomes part of their everyday life. Something supernatural can appear in the form of a fabulous animal or a mysterious Soviet officer, a ghost, phantoms, genetic engineering or the apocalypse. Man’s search for his place and purpose on earth in relation to a higher order is the very core of the program.
