Dsilton’s music features high-energy arrangements utilizing microtonal tunings and modulating rhythms. In terms of composition techniques and improvisation structures, all of the pieces share intricate grooves and utilize the expanded tonality of 31-tone tuning. The repertoire encompasses a wide spectrum, ranging from improvisation forms with enharmonic entanglements and 31-tone serial compositions, to arrangements featuring manipulated field recordings

Dsilton, the working-project of Georg Vogel, David Dornig and Valentin Duit was founded in 2015 as a duo of Georg Vogel and David Dornig to perform enharmntuplet arrangements of field-transcriptions. They already consisted of the main framing musical parameters of the whole repertoire of the ensemble that evolved since then: the tonal space of 31 equal temperament and related 7-limit just intonation paired with rhythms based on whole number ratio n-tuplets and metric modulations.

In order to play the original material special instruments were introduced to the ensemble, first a combination of David Dornig´s 6-string electric 31-tone guitar with subset-tuned 12-tone keyboards. These enharmonic subsets were designed to play already written pieces but at same time they became a starting point for new ones exploring the possibilities of limited tonal space.

The newly introduced works widened the stylistic range and brought new parameters especially concerning improvisation within frames, that came out of new compositional methods such as enharmonic intonated 12-tone serialism, 31-tone serialism, 31-tone approximated spectralism, 31-tone extended diatonic fields etc.

In the meantime, Valentin Duit joined the ensemble on the drumset in 2017 and the whole repertoire was adapted to the new instrumentation. In 2018 split sharps keyboards were introduced, those were built by Georg Vogel, called Clavitones with at least 31 keys per octave. This again opened a lot of new doors for new compositions. Also a new hybrid bass and guitar instrument was built for David Dornig, 31edo with 8 strings.

At the beginning of 2023, they will present the first studio album “Dsilton” which documents the whole grown repertoire of pieces by David Dornig and Georg Vogel since the very beginning of the band that are still framed by the same pieces of the very first duo-concert.

Dsilton has since presented their music at Moers festival (2018), Bezau Beatz Festival (2018), Jazzclub Dachau (2018), Symposium Mikrotöne Salzburg (2019), Blue Tomato Vienna (2019), Porgy & Bess (2021), Kultursommer Festival Wien (2021), Festival Sansusi (2021), Jazzfestival Saalfelden (2021), Sound Plasma Tallinn (2021), Kick Jazz Festival (2021), Huygens-Fokker Fd. Amsterdam (2021), Inntöne Tastenfestival (2022).

• GROJA MAGAS (Arma Agharta)

For nearly a decade, Groja Magas has been a part of the music scene, with a name that leaves room for interpretation (does the magician perform, or is it the magnetophone that plays?). In this extended DJ performance, an assortment of music from diverse cultures, along with electronics, inventive object manipulation, intriguing costumery, and more, is delivered.

Arma Agharta, Lithuanian sound performance artist and promoter, has been dedicated to the exploration of improvised and experimental music for more than 20 years. Driven by a sincere passion for the underground scene, he has contributed to its growth by employing various mediums such as publishing zines, running labels, playing in bands, and organizing shows and festivals. His performances range from explosive eruptions of chaotic noise to entrancing psychedelic rituals, infused with dadaist humor, peculiar bodily movements, impromptu improvisation, enigmatic magic tricks and glossolalia.

This is a collaboration that brings together the forces of two unique pseudo-improvised music ensembles – the DJ Extended ft. Kazimieras Jušinskas duo and “Fleitų 3” – on the special occasion of the “Bandit Supreme” follow-up episode…
Based on the colorful characteristics of this ensemble tandem and the unusual instrumental setup (turntables-flutes-saxophones), the collective will prepare a fusion-esque premiere performance that is reminiscent of an untempered circle of fifths (whatever that means).
