Even though winter cold doesn’t really reach me where I live, I feel it coming, imagining white landscapes and people figures disappearing in them. I find this time of the year like a dream, soft and pale, where colours fade away, leaving only a blank space.
And somehow I find these illustrations by Melbourne based illustrator Emma Leonard matching this winter atmosphere. Artist’s works are like a winter tale with pastel colours and fading outlines of the figures in her drawings. That creates somewhat a romantic and cozy mood for this cold time of the year. I love Emma’s detailed realistic portraits, accents of colours and patterns, blurred watercolour marks and slightly unfinished look of her works.
